Employee Spotlight – David Churchley

David Churchley is a longstanding member of the Ductbusters team and has seen the business grow from its family roots into the nationwide entity that it represents today.

We took some time to ask David about his work as a Surveyor for our new employee spotlight.


What does a day in the role of a surveyor involve for you?

“My daily role as a surveyor involves a number of tasks; including allocating times for works to commence, and generating new business, including ductwork cleaning, fire damper testing, AHU maintenance, LEV testing, and kitchen extract cleaning.

I find myself out of the office more often than not, conducting site visits to ensure access door positions and numbers are correct, as well as determining the need for any specialist equipment.

I also measure technical ductwork drawings in order to supply a cost, taking into account the size of the ductwork and the amount of ductwork which requires cleaning.

To ensure optimum client satisfaction, I undertake daily calls, making sure the work I have ongoing is being carried out to the required standards and to answer any questions the client may have.”

How long have you worked with Ductbusters and how has it changed in that time?

“I’ve worked at Ductbusters for 18 years, having started as an operative when the team consisted of just 6, working with 3 vans out of a small unit.

Over the years, the workforce has increased significantly, more and more office staff and operatives have been employed. In this time, the way we work has also evolved, becoming more refined and incorporating an increasing technological element.

This has helped us offer a gradually improved service to our clients.”

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy meeting new people and visiting new sites. Each site is different, so I am faced with a new challenge each time. I enjoy having a hands-on approach to each job, and working to actively solve problems.”

How does your work help Ductbusters’ clients?

As a direct representative of the company, my work helps Ductbusters’ clients in a variety of ways. I make regular site visits, ensuring sites are ready for us to clean.

I measure and order filters for AHUs, and offer my best advice on fire damper safety, helping to ensure client safety.

In addition, I make sure reports are compiled, keeping the client informed and answer any questions they may have.”
